Emily advises Lewis Pugh and the Polar Defense Project on climate science and messaging. Polar Defense Project: an award winning campaign to stop climate change and protect people and the environment. The campaign currently focuses on the rapid melt of glaciers in the Himalayas, putting the water sources of 1/5th of the world’s population at risk. Lewis Pugh will swim 1km on Mount Everest and call on world leaders to reduce global warming to below current levels. Lewis calls on people around the world to cut your carbon footprint by 10% in 2010. Will you join in?
North Pole swim: Lewis Gordon Pugh swam 1km at the North Pole fuelling international interest in the loss of Arctic sea ice due to climate change. Loss of sea ice accelerates global warming and alters the climate. It can also intensify climate change and indirectly, increase sea level rise globally. We can not stop climate change unless we preserve Arctic sea ice and must take immediate action to stop climate change. Lewis addresses world leaders on climate change and leadership issues and uses his North Pole swim to demonstrate that with courage, vision, leadership, determination and team work, virtually nothing is impossible. He advocates that with this attitude and action, we can stop climate change. In his speeches, Lewis asks you to join him and to do whatever you can to help achieve this. |
